Yes – it really is that idyllic and beautiful. Hamilton Pool lies about 20 miles west of Austin and is an enormously popular swimming hole on summer weekends. It was formed when part of the roof of a cave holding an underground rover caved in leaving a round lake half covered by an enormous rock overhang. If you find yourself in central Texas with nothing to do for a day, you could do a lot worse than take a visit to one of the area’s most spectacular natural sites.
